Ben Johns (he/him) is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and graphic designer living in Victoria, BC as a visitor on the unceded territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and WSÁNEĆ peoples. He works primarily with photography, video art, and various digital media arts. Ben’s practice is precise and detail-oriented, often resulting in a formal and polished visual aesthetic. He incorporates themes of emptiness, repetition, human interaction with nature, and finding meaning in the mundane. Using the environment around him as his subject, Ben creates visuals and narratives that are often location-based and take on a documentary approach. He enjoys questioning the world around him and making people think about common issues from new perspectives. Ben is currently studying visual arts at the University of Victoria and will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2024. His work has been published in This Side Of West, a student-run literary and art journal at UVic.
