Gabe Thompson | he/him | Victoria, BC

Gabe Thompson (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist that resides and creates his work in his hometown Victoria, British Columbia, on the unceded territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and WSÁNEĆ peoples. He holds a BFA (hons.) from the University of Victoria as well as a Diploma of Visual Arts from Camosun College. Thompson’s current practice primarily focuses on woodworking and the process of marquetry. Exploring two dimensional design concepts and abstraction through the use of intricately cut wood veneers. Taking inspiration from organic systems and the environment, he creates works that navigate themes of memory and fragmentation to form a growing visual language. Thompson’s work has been featured in multiple group exhibitions at the University of Victoria including, Silver Bullets, 00:01, Facing, and Junk Drawer.
