Cameron Lyon is an oil painter, raised in Calgary, Alberta. She is currently attending the University of Victoria, on the unceded territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, in a bachelor of fine arts. Cameron’s work captures metallic or reflective surfaces. The emotional evocation of the objects she chooses relates back to her theme of the feminine pursuit of beauty. Her current body of work is focused on the relation between self portraiture and identity within the prison of beauty, and how that is represented in static objects. Lyon’s work has been featured in the Bruises show at the Audain gallery in Victoria. Her work will be featured in the BFA grad show, in April 2024.
